Pokémon Champions becomes the new official platform for VGC battles. Starting in 2026, the Pokémon World Championships will be played on this Stadium-like game developed in part by Game Freak, featuring the return of Mega Evolutions and an experience designed for all players.

With the end of the 2025 World Championships on Pokémon Scarlet and Purple , the Pokémon Company announced a historic change: Pokémon Champions will host VGC tournaments starting in 2026 .
You have to go back to Pokémon Battle Revolution on the Wii to find competitions in a Stadium-style game. This time, Pokémon Champions establishes itself as the central platform, even replacing the upcoming 10th generation game.
⚖️ A more accessible and fair game
No more hours spent raising, breeding, and training your Pokémon across multiple games and DLCs. In Pokémon Champions , all players will be on equal footing:
- Import your Pokémon via Pokémon HOME .
- Or use the ones provided in the game.
👉 Result: no more barriers to entry, making way for pure talent.
💎 The return of Mega Evolutions
The first season of ranked battles will allow Mega Evolution , thanks to a new accessory: the Omni-Ring .
And surprisingly, Mega Dragonite joins the roster, following its appearance in Pokémon Legends ZA . This will undoubtedly add a spectacular strategic dimension to the battles.
⚔️ A brand new progression system
Players will accumulate Victory Points (VP) to strengthen their team:
- Trial recruitment : test a Pokémon for free for one day.
- Permanent recruitment : add a Pokémon via PdV.
- Training : improve stats, talents and abilities.
👉 No HP can be purchased: you will have to fight to progress.
🌐 A variety of styles for every taste
Three combat modes will be offered:
- Ranked (the official competition),
- Friendly matches (for training),
- Private (against your friends).
It can all be played in Solo or Duo mode , to suit all strategies.
