Japanese vs. French: the two official formats
A Japanese display (or "booster box") is a factory-sealed box containing boosters from the same expansion. The proportions differ from the Western format, and that's perfectly normal:
🇯🇵 Japanese Display
30 boosters of 5 cards — guaranteed rarities per box, released several months ahead of the West
🇫🇷 French Display
36 boosters of 10 cards — more random pulls from one box to another, French texts
In most recent Japanese sets, a display provides several AR (Art Rare) cards and at least one SR or better (SAR, UR). This consistency, plus the exclusive illustrations, explains the enthusiasm — and the appetite of fraudsters. For upcoming set release dates, check our 2026 release calendar.
A modern Japanese display contains…
Display, ETB, box set… which format for you?
The display is not always the right choice. Depending on your budget and goal, here's how we guide our customers:
The display: the best card/price ratio
30 Japanese boosters at once, largely guaranteed rarities: the format for collectors who want to complete a set. All our displays, or pre-order at launch price.
Single boosters, tripacks, and Pokéboxes
To get a taste of an expansion without investing in the full box: single boosters, tripacks & duo packs or Pokéboxes with their exclusive promo.
ETBs and box sets: the beautiful items
The Elite Trainer Boxes and collector box sets combine boosters, exclusive promos, and accessories — the ultimate gift format, especially from the 30th anniversary range.
Single cards and graded cards
Are you aiming for a specific card? No need to rely on booster luck: buy it directly, and save the pleasure of opening for the sets you collect. Discover our single cards, or Japanese graded cards (PSA, BGS, CGC — over 900 certified references) for investment. And to switch universes, our One Piece Card Game section.
The real prices: understanding display conditions
First expert tip: the same display exists in several conditions, at different prices. This is why "starting from" prices can be confusing. For us, each product sheet specifies the exact condition:
SEALED (with film)
The box in its original factory film: the market reference condition, and the prices in our table below.
NO SHRINK (without film)
Some official Japanese arrivals — especially from Pokémon Center — are delivered without factory film. This is normal and documented; expect to pay a few euros less than sealed (e.g., Munikis Zero: €79.90 no shrink vs €84.90 sealed).
OPEN BOX guaranteed quota & booster options
Box opened and checked by us with guaranteed rarity quotas (e.g., Abyss Eye open box: €69.90), or lots of boosters from Pokémon Center (e.g., 15 Storm Emeralda boosters: €69.90). The way to open Japanese without the budget of a full display — knowing exactly what you're buying.
The benchmarks below concern complete sealed displays, taken from our catalog in August 2026:
| Category | Sealed Display | Real Examples (Sealed Condition) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Recent Set | €85 – 180 | Munikis Zero (M3) €84.90 • Abyss Eye (M5) €89.90 • Storm Emeralda (M6) €179.90 |
| Highly Sought-After Set | €200 – 230 | The Glory of Team Rocket (SV10) €219.90 • Black Bolt (SV11B) €229.90 |
| High Class Pack | €180 – 280 | Terastal Festival (SV8A) €179.90 • VSTAR Universe (S12A) €279.90 |
| Out of Stock / Iconic Set | €330 and + | Pokémon 151 (SV2A) €329.90 – €379.90 depending on condition — prices increase with rarity |
Prices for sealed displays noted in August 2026 on our catalog — they evolve with the market. For pre-orders, sets sell at the launch price: this is the best time to buy. And yes, our own promotions and clearances sometimes go below these benchmarks — the difference is that you know exactly who you're buying from, and in what condition.
🕑 As we write, several items are in very low stock (Black Bolt, The Glory of Team Rocket, Shiny Treasure…) — displays from popular sets sell out quickly and are not always restocked. See real-time availability →
The discount alone proves nothing: legitimate stores also run promotions and clearances — we are among the first. The real warning sign is a massive discount from an unidentified seller, or a "sealed display" at the price of a booster option.
A "sealed display" of Black Bolt for €90 on an unknown site is…
Mission: the anti-resealed inspection
Resealing consists of opening a display, sorting or replacing boosters, then re-wrapping the box to resell it as new. This is the #1 fraud for Japanese displays. Inspect all 6 zones to unlock the Certified Inspector badge:

Zones: 0/6A typical Japanese display, as seen by our receiving team. Touch each numbered zone.

Each zone corresponds to a real check performed by our team upon receipt of stock.
The 4 purchase channels, from safest to worst
French specialized stores
Identifiable company (legal notices, verifiable SIREN), independent customer reviews, 14-day right of withdrawal, responsive support. At Hikaru Distribution, displays are selected in Japan, inspected one by one, 1,290+ public Trustpilot reviews, and delivery as well as returns are detailed in our FAQ. Browse our displays →
Direct import from Japan
Often perceived as cheaper — this is rarely true once international shipping, import VAT (20%), and carrier handling fees are added: the difference shrinks, with no protection under French law and with Japanese support. This is precisely our business: our displays are imported directly from Japan by us — you get the import price, without its risks or delays.
Marketplaces (eBay, Vinted, Leboncoin)
The best and worst of resealed items coexist. Survival rules: professional sellers with a strong history, real photos from all angles, payment exclusively through the platform, price compared to the benchmarks above. Or avoid the hassle: with a specialized store, the inspection is already done before shipping.
Unknown sites with massive discounts
Recently appeared, without legal notices or address, prices in foreign currency, -50% on sought-after products. Networks of fake sites even copy the names of legitimate stores. Our only official website is hikarudistribution.com.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Japanese Pokémon display contain as many booster packs as a French display?
+
No. A modern Japanese display contains 30 booster packs of 5 cards, compared to 36 booster packs of 10 cards for a French display. This is normal: both formats are official, just different.
How much will a Japanese Pokémon display cost in 2026?
+
For a complete sealed display, prices observed in the French market in August 2026: 85 to 180 euros for a standard recent set (Munikis Zero €84.90, Storm Emeralda €179.90), 200 to 230 euros for highly sought-after sets (The Glory of Team Rocket €219.90, Black Bolt €229.90), up to 280 euros for high-class packs (VSTAR Universe €279.90) and 330 euros and more for sold-out sets like Pokémon 151. Pay attention to conditions: the same display exists in sealed version, no shrink (without film, normal for some Japanese arrivals) or open box with guaranteed quotas, at different prices. A significant discount is not suspicious in itself: identifiable stores also run promotions and clearance sales. It only becomes an alert signal from an unidentifiable seller.
What is a "resealed" display?
+
A resealed display is a box whose booster packs have been opened or sorted, then re-wrapped in plastic film to appear new and sealed. This is the most common fraud for Japanese displays. Checkpoints: film that is too thick or too loose, irregular film seals, an abnormally low price, and a seller with no history.
How to verify that an online Pokémon card store is reliable?
+
Check the legal identity of the company (legal notices, SIREN for a French company), customer reviews on an independent platform like Trustpilot, the site's age, and price consistency with the market. Beware of recent sites without legal notices displaying discounts of 50% or more on sought-after sealed products.
Should you pre-order Japanese displays?
+
Pre-ordering is often the best way to get a display at its launch price, before stock shortages and price increases on the secondary market. Observed example: sealed displays of popular sets exceed €200 once out of stock (Black Bolt €229.90), while pre-orders go for the launch price. At Hikaru Distribution, pre-orders open as soon as sets are officially announced.
